I OCR scanned in all the info I have on the decendants of John C Rawls. It is an excerpt from "The Record" the Garland Co. AR Historical Society Publication 100 year Anniversary Edition 1873-1973 (there might be some mistakes as scanning text is unpredictable I fixed all I could find) I have added and corrected some of the following data.

RAWLS D-204 and 214

Legend handed down in ts family is that there were originally 3 (or 4) brothers who served in the Revolutonary War and only one returned. This supposedly happened while living near Albany, N Y, and there are descendants in this area before 1840, listed as John C, Rolls, Ralls and Rawls. His wife was a Miss Lucy Throgmorton (More info) who d, ca.1848 and is said to have been the first person buried in what is now the Lowe Cemetery, The 1850 census D-489, Hot Sprjngs Township, Hot Springs Co., Ark. lists John C. as a farmer, age 46, born S,C (thus b, ca 1804 and he Died*: Nov. 25, 1860.) Issue: Sarah J, age 18, b, Miss; Joseph age 15, b, Miss, Martha A,, age 12 b, Ark, Susan D, age 10 b, Ark, , John age 6 and Thomas J age 4 b, Ark. John C is known to have had one sister, Sophie who m. an Adams n Vicksburg, Miss. Her dau m. a Baldwin

At age 66, he signed an affidavit that he had served in Co. D 4th Ark. Cav. and was a member of Capt, Morgan Usserly's Co., First Reg. Ark. State Guards in action to quell an uprising of the KKK in South Arkansas during reconstruction. His signature was witnessed by Bettie Rawls and Minnie King. He died after 1912.

_in 1867 Augustus Echols married Cassira Redwine d/o Sion Burdine Redwine. ( this is James Augustus Echols)

_Cassira died in childbirth on Oct. 31, 1867

_ Mrs Susan Rolls on Jan 6. of 1861 married James Echols? Is this dau of John C. Rawls ??? (Ok how can Susan marry James in 1861 while his first wife was listed as Cassira Redwine they married in 1867... )

_Susan Acles in 1870 census living with John Felix Rawls and his wife Hulda Redwine Rawls. Is this JF Rawls' sister? Or Joseph Rawls widow??

_Then in Jan of 1870 There is Sarah Echols who is married to Benjamin Ennis.... Why in "The Record" did it state that Ben Ennis married Martha Rawls, when she didn't die until 1876? Can't find them on a census either!
