Arlis W. Havey, 85, with the passing of Arlis W. Havey at her home in Manteca on the morning of January 11, 2006, the world has lost an earthly angel. Mrs. Havey was born on April 1, 1920 and had been a resident of Manteca since 1956. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, James Joseph Havey and is survived by her dear sister Dorothy M. Banta, her dear son James David of Manteca, and her dearest daughters Arlis Himmelmann of Rancho Murieta, Cal. and Marilyn Kalafatis of San Ramon, Cal. Mrs. Havey is also survived by her four grandsons, Jeffrey and Christopher Himmelmann and Steven and Matthew Kalafatis and two great-granddaughters, Sadie Jane, daughter of Jeffrey and Kristin Himmelmann and Grace Ryann, daughter of Christopher and Heather Himmelmann, and special nephew Edward Odling and family.
Arlis will be deeply missed by family and friends. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew and loved her and who were blessed by her love and devotion. Arlis was an avid reader and gardener and a woman of great faith and daily prayer, who loved to travel for the visitation of new places and the cultivation of new friendships.
P.L. Fry & Son of Manteca is in charge of funeral arrangements. A Rosary is scheduled for family and friends on Friday, Jan. 13, 2006 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Manteca.

Dorothy M. Banta

Dorothy M. Banta, 94, passed away Feb. 14 in Stockton.
Dorothy was born in San Francisco on Nov. 4, 1913. She resided in Manteca for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Eleanor Banta.
She is survived by nephew James D. Harvey of Manteca, niece Arlis V. Himmelmann of Rancho Murieta, and niece Marilyn Kalafatis of San Ramon.
Dorothy was a bookkeeper at Stockton Plating Works for over 20 years, She actually drove an Army supply truck during World War II. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Manteca. She enjoyed traveling and reading. Dorothy was a loving daughter, sister and aunt and she was a good friend to all her knew her.
A rosary takes place Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Feb. 29, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial is private.
Donations may be sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 525 E. North St., Manteca, CA, 95336.
