- After Charles died of Typhoid in 1914 Myrtle sent the 3 young girls to live with relatives. In 1920, Thelma , I believe is living with Walter Jernigan (Bud's brother) in Kansas. Lola was sent to live on the farm with Aunt Bell and Uncle Bud Jernigan in Kansas, and Edith is living with her maternal grandparents, Sam and Clara Stevens, in Victor CO. Myrtle is listed in the 1920 census living in Colorado Springs living alone working as a waitress in a restaurant (Family lore is she was a Harvey Girl). By 1930 Myrtle was remarried for 6 years living in Phoenix, AZ with Monte Cave, Edith was with them as well. Thelma and Lola were already married.
