WILLIAM CRANFORD'S WILL 1843
In the Name of God Amen. I, William Cranford of the state of
North Carolina,
Montgomery County, knowing myself to be getting weaker in body
and more
frail, but of sound mind and understanding do make my last will
and
testament in manner and form as follows.
I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Agnes Cranford
during her
widowhood all my money securities for money goods chattle estate
and effects
of what nature or kind (?) to hold the same unto my said wife
her executors
administrators and Assigns Excepth that I give and bequeath unto
my daughter
Phebe Green Cranford one bed and furniture one Brood Sow
and pigs one cow
and calf to have and to hold the same forever. I do also except
for my
daughter Wealthy Adaline Cranford one bed and furniture
one sow and pigs one
cow and calf to have and to hold the same forever. I do also except
for my
son Ebenezer Hearne Cranford one horse and one bed and
furniture cow and
calf to have and to hold the same forever and I do also except
for my son
Wilson Cranford one horse one bed and furniture one cow
and one calf to have
and to hold the same forever and I also except for my Son Josiah
Reaves
Cranford one bed and furniture and eight dollars and fifty
cents. I also
except for my daughter Elizabeth Baily Hall one dollars.
I also except for
my son Henry Cranford, one dollar and I also except for
my son Baily
Cranford one dollar. I also except for my daughter Melinda
Cawltharp one
dollar and I also except for my daughter Rebekah Hall one
dollar and I also
except for my daughter Jane Kimbrel one dollar and I also
except for my son
Elias G. Cranford one dollar and I also except for my daughter
Mary Bundy
one dollar and I also give unto my two sons all my land to be
equally
divided between the two Ebenezer and Wilson by their taking care
of their
mother their lifetime and their two sisters whle they remain with
their
mother and I nominate Constitute and appoint my said wife sole
executor of
this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void
all and
every other will or wills at any time by me heretofore made and
do declare
this to be my last will and testament.

this the 17th day of March in the year of our Lord, One Thousand,
eight
hundred and forty three. Signed sealed declared and published
by the above
named William Cranford as and for his last will and testament
