PAPERS OF TWO THROCKMORTON MEN

Ed. Note:The 1805 Will of Mordecai Throckmorton, Jefferson County,
Mississippi
is (probated 1812), and the 1813-1815 Probate papers of Robert
Throckmorton of Claiborne County, Mississippi. are presented.
Relationship of these two men is not clear.
Last Will and Testament of Mordecai Throckmorton
Jefferson County, Mississippi, Chancery Clerk's Office, Fayette;
"Old Wills Not
Recorded" stored in metal wall box.
The last will and testament of Mordecai Throckmorton of the County
of Jefferson
& Mississippi Territory.
In the name of God Amen. I Mordecai Throckmorton tavern keeper
of the County of Jefferson and Mississippi Territory being of
sound mind memory and understanding, but weak in body directing
the disposal of property which God has blessed me with, do publish,
and declare this my last will & testament m manner & form
following, that is to say ____ ? It is my will and desire that
my executors recover all just debts due to me and pay all just
debts which I owe as soon as may be after my decrease (sic)).
Item. It is my will and desire that the house and lot on which
I now live, and the b.act of land on Buffaloe containing Six hundred
and Sixty Six and two third acres be sold to discharge my just
debts.
Item. It is my will and desire that all my property be kept together
for the support of the children until any of them arrive at the
age of twenty one years or marry and that my beloved wife Patsy
have the use thereof for the purpose afsd
Item. It is my will and desire that my beloved wife Shall have
a full childs part.
Item. It is my will and desire that my executors shall act and
do m all things, not herein specially mentioned as they may deem
most for the benefit of wife & children.
And lastly, make and appoint my wife Patsy and Cato John Girault executors of this my last will and testament, & guardians of my children dated 28th day of June 1805.

Signed, sealed, declared as, and for the last will and testament
of the sd Mordecai Throckmorton on, the same being written on
one sheet of paper in presence of us. Eiam[?] Hall, H.D. Downs

To the Honorable (sic) the Justices of the Orphans Court of Jefferson
County
The petition of John Girault sole surviving Executor of the last
WilI & Testament of Mordecai Throckmorton deceased. Showeth[?]
That for the liquidation of the Debts due by the said deceased
at the time of his death it is necessary to sell some of the personal
Estate in the hands of the petitioner, he therefore prays your
honor to grant him an order to that Effect, that is to say, to
empower him to dispose of the personal Estate of the Testator,
agreeably to the provisions of the Statute in such case made &
provided.
